Profound "Veronique-isms"

On Living:
"Whether one is the child of paupers or kings, one should have as much enjoyment as possible. After all, life carries an automatic death sentence- and there is no time off for good behavior!"

On Dreams:
"We all have our dreams, and so by extension when the dreams of others are realized, in witnessing their happiness, one's own dreams seem that much more attainable. (Unless it is someone you hate- then you just feel like a failure.)"

On Humor:
"It is more glamorous to be known as a beauty, than as a clown. However, when her looks fade, the beauty will find herself out of favor, whereas a jester's wit and power of observation sharpen with age."

On Comfort:
"I would prefer to have my feet skewered in a pair of stilletos, than to wear shoes which, if they were food, would be mistaken for potatoes."

On Love:
"What's the use in having Hell, when
Love gone bad hurts just as well?"

Veronique's Possible Ancestry

A Famous Frenchman
With a Posthumous Present!

Mademoiselle Veronique Marie Therese Antoinette de Chevalier (formerly Cyphyre) was once the Etoile (Prima Ballerina) for Les Ballets de la Salle de Bain de Paris. Her career was tragically cut short while the company was on the Tehachapi leg of their most recent US tour, when she took an unfortunate tumble into the orchestra pit during her solo, due to a sudden blackout, caused by a drunken cowboy shooting out the headlights of the pickup truck that served as the stage lighting.

After she came to, some weeks later, she had lost all memory of ever having danced, as well as having also forgotten her native French tongue. She can now only speak in - what is considered by all who hear it - her own charming version of accented English.

Although her dancing career came to an abrupt halt, it was soon discovered that she is possessed of a distinctive singing voice, and so is pursuing this new career direction. Her memory no longer being what it once was, she has found it necessary to rewrite songs with her own lyrics in order to remember the words.

News has only recently come to light about the ancestry of Veronique. It has been very strongly insinuated that a certain gentleman, a former legend of stage and screen of international renown, inadvertently found his way into the boudoir, as well as the arms, of an unnamed grand dame of the aristocracy.

The daughter born of that brief liaison only learned of her true father's identity late in life. In light of this most profound discovery, she immediately called to inform her own daughter, the lovely Veronique, of the news, but the telephone booth from which she was making her call was accidentally struck by a by a gourmet grocery delivery truck, laden with escargot. Alas, the unfortunate soul expired before she was able to reveal the definitive genealogical proof.

In honor of the memory of the great gentleman, as well as the passing of her mother, and in the hopes that one day the missing evidence will be fully revealed, Veronique is proud to assume the surname of "Chevalier".

Her unmistakable talent alone should leave little doubt of the strong possibility that there may be a familial connection. Not to mention that she has exquisite taste. And she also occasionally channels an entity that is a drag queen trapped in a woman's body.

And so in the way that life often has of delivering the bitter with the sweet, Mademoiselle Veronique Chevalier, formerly Cyphyre, has simultaneously become an orphan, as well as the offspring of a celebrity...

Mademoiselle Veronique sincerely thanks all her loyal admirers for their support, as she aims for the same high level of artistry in music that she achieved during her illustrious, albeit all-too brief, career in the ballet.

Portrait of Burleigh Drummond
One of the guest artists with whom Veronique had the honor of working on the Cabaret4Choice project was Burleigh Drummond, the founding drummer of the band "Ambrosia" known for such past hits as "How Much I Feel", "Holdin' On to Yesterday" and "You're the Only Woman". Today, he and his lovely wife Mary Harris have the band "Tin Drum", and their uplifting sound can be best described as "Eclectic World Music".

"Her eyes sweep the room, so luminous and arresting. Her songs seem to radiate from the very depths of those eyes, rather than from her vocal chords alone. She is an enchantress and has a timeless beauty on par with Garbo or Bardot. Did I mention that she is also happens to be as zany as Lucy or as droll as Elvira? It's a joy to witness the work of this fearless jester wrapped in the body of a goddess..."
